Hayle is a product of the industrial revolution of the 18th and 19th centuries. The Hayle mining area was amongst the first in Cornwall to exploit its copper reserves on a large scale. Hayle enjoys a unique water – frontage, the estuary was an important trading water – frontage place in the early medieval period, particularly the 5th to 7th centuries, the estuary was the reason the town developed here. My unit is based on the underlying hypothesis that fossil fuel use will become incredibly restricted in the future, primarily as a result of climate change. Significant steps are being taken to reduce building energy use within the western world, but so far the methods employed require the expenditure of large amounts of fossil fuel in order to achieve reduction in operating costs, principally by the compulsory of very high levels of insulation abd effective draught proofing.
